I see your point, but what's real about most VFX shots in a tentpole movie?

If it's Iron Man, there's probably a CGI suit, interacting with a plate or group of plates that were built digitally, including artificial lighting. In Tangled and subsequent animated films, they used algorithms to make the hair look more realistic, but there was very little that was 'real' about those films.

Is using a digital pen to create 3D models or rotoscope all day good for people's brains?

I'm not really sure of the answer to that.

All that's really happened is that regular people are now able to access tools to mimic films that were already based in a tangential relationship to reality. For me, AI VFX are great for surreal bits, and that's also a fairly non-infringing use: applying Magritte etc. to NZ politics.

AI writing is more complicated. If one was taught critical thinking, and applies it, then I think that it's a good research assistant that can draft a paragraph or two.

I wrote something very in-depth with AI help. It seems to be catching on.
